The system replaces manual visual matching with a closed, instrument-verified workflow, allowing COHUI to reproduce any customer’s panel color — including non-standard and custom shades — with measured color difference (dE*ab) values consistently below 1.0.
Color consistency has long been one of the most demanding requirements in the solid surface and joint adhesive market. Fabricators bonding countertops, panels and seamless joints need adhesive that disappears into the sheet — and that means every batch must match the surrounding material, not approximately, but measurably. COHUI’s new system addresses this directly.
How the System Works
The COHUI color-matching workflow
- Measure — the customer’s panel is read with a spectrophotometer to capture its L*, a*, b* values under standard illuminant D65/10°.
- Generate — matching software compares the target against COHUI’s digitized pigment library and automatically generates candidate color formulas with predicted dE values.
- Select — technicians select the optimal formula based on accuracy, pigment cost and batch feasibility.
- Dispense — the color paste is prepared with automated dosing to the formula’s exact ratios.
- Cure — a lab sample is mixed and cured under controlled conditions.
- Verify — the cured sample is re-measured on the spectrophotometer and compared against the target.
Only formulas that pass instrument verification — with dE*ab held below 1.0 against the customer’s reference panel — are released for production. Every measurement, formula and test record is archived, so a customer’s color can be reproduced months or years later, batch after batch.
Verified Accuracy, Not Visual Approximation
In recent verification runs, samples matched against customer reference panels recorded dE*ab values between 0.62 and 0.93 — all within COHUI’s internal pass threshold and well inside the tolerance generally accepted as visually seamless in solid surface applications.
